At the 2024 Geneva Watch Fair, Rolex unveiled its latest new creation, including a new stainless steel GMT-Master II watch. This new model features the same black and grey bi-color ceramic bezel design as the solid gold and two-tone versions that debuted last year, paired with a green GMT hand and green dial text, echoing the black and green left crown model launched in 2022.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Combination of Black and Grey Ceramic Bezel From a functional perspective, the new Rolex GMT-Master II 126710GRNR is essentially a new color scheme for the current stainless steel model. However, it represents a slightly different new configuration in Rolex’s multi-time zone travel watch lineup, broadly combining the dial and hands of last year’s black and green stainless steel model (ref. 126720VTNR) with the black and grey ceramic bezel of the solid 18K yellow gold and two-tone versions.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Aside from the new color scheme, this watch is identical in other respects to the current stainless steel models in the series, meaning it has a 40mm 904L Oystersteel case, flat anti-reflective sapphire crystal (with a signature cyclops lens over the date), triple waterproof screw-down crown, and solid screw-in case back water-resistant to 100 meters.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

3-Link Oyster or 5-Link Jubilee Stainless Steel Bracelet<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Like other models in the current GMT-Master II collection, the new Rolex GMT-Master II 126710GRNR is powered by the brand’s in-house 3285 automatic GMT movement with a highly efficient Parachrom hairspring and approximately 70 hours of power reserve. Additionally, like other stainless steel models in the line, this new piece can be paired with either Rolex’s three-link Oyster or five-link Jubilee stainless steel bracelet, both featuring an Oysterlock folding clasp and EasyLink extension links for exceptional wearing comfort.<\/p>\n<\/div>

The difference between the new GMT-Master II 126710GRNR and other models lies in the dial, hands, and ceramic bezel design. Apart from the date window at the conventional 3 o’clock position, the dial design is essentially the same as the 126720VTNR black and green model, featuring a black lacquered dial with white gold hour markers filled with blue luminescent material, and “GMT-Master II” printed in green. The hands are also polished white gold Mercedes-style hands, paired with a green GMT hand.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The two-tone ceramic bezel design is carried over from last year’s yellow gold and two-tone launches, but instead of shiny gold numerals, the stainless steel version features white gold PVD-coated numerals to match the case. While the black and grey bezel was previously only found on precious metal versions, many expected this design to eventually trickle down to stainless steel, though the subtle green accents on the dial and hands were a bit more surprising.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Since the new GMT-Master II 126710GRNR is essentially just a new color variant of the current stainless steel model, its pricing is the same as other models in the line. It retails for HK$87,800 on the Oyster bracelet or HK$89,500 on the Jubilee bracelet. Ever since the all-black ceramic bezel GMT-Master II (116710LN) was discontinued by Rolex a few years ago, there have been strong calls for the brand to reintroduce a more understated GMT-Master II variant, as the current stainless steel models all feature bright and vibrant bezel designs. The arrival of the GMT-Master II 126710GRNR neatly fulfills the demand from those who appreciate the GMT-Master II’s functionality but seek a more casual everyday watch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
