The Rolex Perpetual 1908 series was first launched on March 27, 2023, marking the official introduction of a new series from Rolex. The combination of innovative design and exquisite craftsmanship brings new vitality to its luxurious evening watch collection, emphasizing that they are not only renowned watch creators but also masterful watchmakers.

The new 1908 Eternal watch features an 18-carat gold or platinum case, each paired with a black or white dial, but it is not just four watches. Subsequently, in 2024, a noble ice blue dial was also introduced.

With the Perpetual 1908, Rolex claims it is actually launching its new Perpetual series. This is Rolex’s professional, elegant answer to the public’s perception of the 1908 Eternal watches, which many believe is a replacement for the previously somewhat neglected Cellini series (now discontinued).

The design of this watch is inspired by several past Rolex models, particularly a watch from 1931; however, it is not a simple reissue but incorporates the latest watchmaking technology and fine craftsmanship, especially in the movement, enhancing accuracy and precision when worn.

New Combinations in the 1908 Series

To complement the 1908 series, Rolex has introduced the new 7140 movement, an automatic movement that is one-third smaller than traditional movements and includes Siloxy silicon hairspring and Chronergy escapement, providing good resistance to magnetic fields. These two innovative technologies are combined for the first time in this watch, showcasing Rolex’s high technical prowess, with daily deviations only between -2 to +2 seconds. If your Rolex watch is inaccurate, it can be easily taken to a local repair shop for adjustment without the long wait of sending it back to Switzerland.

The case is made of precious metals, offering options in gold and platinum, paired with black or white dials. The case diameter is 39mm, with a thickness of only 9.5mm, and the design of the hands has been improved to better align with modern and classic aesthetics.

Additionally, the rotor component has been upgraded to 18-carat gold, featuring a transparent design that allows one to admire the exquisite decorations inside the movement. The watch’s bezel retains Rolex’s typical grooved design but is presented in a smaller size, giving the watch a unique appearance.

The Rolex 1908 Eternal watch not only showcases the charm of classic design but also emphasizes its professional skills in making accurate, high-quality watches. This is the first time Rolex allows us to glimpse its internal mechanism through a transparent sapphire case back, truly showcasing eternal elegance.
